Review in Time Haiku (February 2010)
by Diana Webb
This short but vintage collection of haiku, sequences and longer poems, catches many autumn and winter early morning stirrings in the square overlooked by the poet’s window. We are treated to an intense appreciation of sky-colour and details, reminiscent of Van Gogh and Turner. Observation combines with wistful reflection, as in the conversational flow of three haiku. comprising ‘St Valentine’s Day’ and the wisdom and acceptance of later years comes with the reminder ‘That life is still worth living.’ Buying a copy will help Hamlin Fistula UK and make you look forward to tomorrow.
